Dr. Eldridge F. Dorsey II

dr eldridge dorseyBorn and raised in Dallas, Texas in 1946 until 1964, the second oldest of nine children. Graduate of Lincoln High School in 1964 and attended the University of Texas Austin until 1968, transferred to Texas Southern University for what I thought was a summer school adventure, which turned out to be my college Alma Mata. With a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, I began my career as a chemist for Texaco Oil refinery in Port Arthur, Texas.

In 1970, I decided to pursue a career in Dentistry and attend Meharry Medical College until 1974 and received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. I then decided to go back to Texas, the University of Texas that is, and I received a certificate of advance studies in Pediatric Dentistry.

I have practiced pediatric Dentistry from 1976 to the present. My practice includes orthodontia and TMD and I am a member of the following organizations:

American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Orthodontic Society, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and a pre-fellow member of the American Academy of General Dentistry. I am also a member of the National Dental Association and its associated Constituents. I have served as President of both the Gulf State Dental Association and Charles A. George Dental Society.

I have also received the following awards:

  • Mosby Scholarship Award for Excellence in Research
  • Peridontology Award
  • American Society of Dentistry for Children’s Award of Merit
  • Endodontics Award

I am a past board member of the National Dental Association and the NDA House of Delegates. I was elected to serve as NDA representative to the National Afro-American Tobacco Education Network and I am currently a board member of the Gulf State Dental Association. I am still in full time practice and the proud father of a fourteen year-old daughter, Morgan Rae Dorsey and son Eldridge Simpson. I have three grandchildren, and one Great grandchild. My Church is Windsor Village United Methodist Church and I am a member of the “Keep it Real Men” confidential counsel group. I am an avid hunter, angler, golfer and chef.
