Dr. Horace Boston

dr horace bostonHorace O. Boston was born July 27, 1934 to Dr. C. J. and Lena Boston in Clarksville, Texas. Horace attended public schools in Texas and Louisiana. A 1955 graduate of Southern University (Baton Rouge, La.) with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and as a commissioned officer, 2nd LT, in the United States Army. Horace went on active duty.

Returning from active duty in the Army, Horace attended graduate school at the University of Oklahoma (Norman) and pursued a career in teaching. While teaching at both the High School and College Levels, he was the recipient of several summer and academic grants sponsored by the National Science Foundation enabling him to do graduate studies at the University of New Mexico, Texas Southern University and Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

After years of teaching, Horace matriculated at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1973. He began his private practice of Dentistry in Wichita Falls, Texas that same year where he continues to serve his community. He is the only Black Dentist within a 100+ mile radius in North Texas.

Dr. and Mrs. Boston married in 1962 and have one son, Horace II, and a grandson Horace III (Trey).

Dr. Boston is an active member at the St. John Baptist Church, a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Gulf State Dental Association where he is serving as President Elect and Chairman of the Board, National Dental Association, Meharry Alumni Association, NorTex Workforce Solution Board, past two term elected council member of the City of Wichita Falls, East Branch YMCA century club and numerous other organizations.
