Dr. Sandra W. Carrier

dr sandra carrierSandra Willis Carrier, DDS, is a native of San Angelo, Texas, where she attended public schools. Upon graduating from high school, she entered Angelo State University where she completed her freshman year. She then transferred to the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She worked as a research associate in virology and microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center before entering the (now) University of Texas School of Dentistry. Since earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1981, Dr. Carrier has practiced dentistry in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Carrier has been an active member of various dental organizations including: Gulf State Dental Association, Charles A George Dental Society, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Houston District Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Ida Rollins Gray Study Club, Christian Dental Society and the American Association of Women Dentists. Additionally, she served four years on the board of directors for the Academy of Gp Orthodontics; and as Vice President and President of the Texas Association of Women Dentists. During her membership with the Ida Rollins Study Group, Dr. Carrier invested in the lives of patients graduating from high school, by providing scholarships for their continuing education.

Dr. Carrier’s voluntary involvement has included: development board for the (now) Comerica Bank Almeda Branch; and leadership development of teen girls with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, of which she is an active member.

She has served her local church as Sunday School teacher and Missions Director. Her passion for dental missions has extended globally to include trips to Zimbabwe, Africa; Belize and Guatemala in Central America. She received a certificate of recognition for meritorious service from the American Dental Association for volunteerism in a foreign country.

As a devoted wife and mother, Dr. Carrier has been a past participant in several youth organizations including: PTO, the Girl Scouts, and Jack and Jill of America.
