Dr. Loren Alves
Dr. Loren D. Alves graduated cum laude, in 1975, from Central State University with a BS Degree in Biology and then earned a DMD Degree from Washington University School of Dental Medicine (St. Louis) in 1979. Following that, Dr. Loren Alves served twenty-one and a half years in the US Army Dental Corp, retiring as a Colonel. With his gallant service he earned the Distinguished Legion Of Merit Medal.
Today, through faith, Dr. Loren D. Alves has his own private practice and was the 1st African American Board Certified pediatric dentist in San Antonio. A member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, National Dental Association’s Board of Trustees, American Dental Association’s Committee on Career Guidance and Diversity, Fellow of the American Dental Association’s Institute for Diversity in Leadership., Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Co-founder of the Devine Literary Publishing Company, LLC, and Co-author of the Anthology Color Of Strength: Embracing the Passion Of Our Culture.
He and his wife Phyllis (high school sweetheart) will celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary with daughters Lauren, Lindsey, and grandchildren Joseph and Amelia.
