Dr. Valencia Augbon

dr valencia augbonDr. Augbon is a native Houstonian. She is the oldest of four children born to Harold and Leonel Augbon. Valencia received her education in the Houston Independent School District. She attended Cullen Junior High School and was among the first African American students to attend Bellaire Senior High School from which she graduated in 1972.

Valencia received a BS in Zoology from Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1976. After receiving her undergraduate degree she entered the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston and received her DDS in 1981.

Dr. Augbon has worked in private practice for the past 30 years and she has also practiced with the Galveston County Hospital District and the Harris County Hospital District. Dr. Augbon was a founding member of the Ida Rollins Gray Study Club, which addressed the concerns of minority women dentist and the recruitment of minority students into the field of dentistry. She has participated as a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, American Association of Women Dentist, and the National Dental Association. She is an active member of the Charles A. George Dental Society and the Gulf State Dental Association.

Valencia is an avid reader and is a member of the Sister, Sister Book Club. She loves music, traveling, sewing, skiing and making jewelry. She is an active member of Windsor Village United Methodist Church, where she is a part of the Prayer Ministry’s Miracle and Healing component and is also a member of the Culture Awareness Ministry.

Known as Lynn to her family members, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and is looking forward to passing on the legacy of education to her younger family members.
